Since the age of 13, Greg Bush, Jr. has known that he wanted to be an entrepreneur and innovator, and create computer-based technology solutions. “The desire became evident over the Christmas break of 1983 when I received a RadioShack TRS-80 computer and the corresponding tape backup device.  I spent the break learning Bill Gates’ new MS-DOS-based BASIC programming language, and I programmed my first computer game,“ said Bush. Today, Bush is the owner, President, and CEO at Bush Infotech Group, Inc. (B.I.G.). Formerly known as KFA, B.I.G. is located in downtown Chicago. Bush has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree and a Master of Science in Information Technology. He is a technology trainer and innovator and has had the privilege of speaking at many industry conferences throughout his career.  In the past five years, Bush has been invited to lecture at Harvard Business School, both in person and virtually, highlighting his recognized expertise in the field.   He has more than 25 years of experience managing large-scale information technology projects and has implemented and managed technologies that have managed over $86 billion in infrastructure projects.

Bush’s business acumen has been proven by his successful acquisition of the company (formerly known as KFA) in 2017 after being hired as a consultant there in 2001 and later becoming a Vice President in 2006.  His firm is now in its 32nd year of business.  B.I.G. is an award-winning information systems consulting and services firm that helps its clients power their business efficiency and interoperability. B.I.G. specializes in technology solutions for infrastructure and capital construction programs, facilities management, and business continuity.  Bush doubled the staff and revenue within two years of taking over ownership and took the business international. He started several vertical brands at B.I.G., including Chicago Media Services, CMS Studios, and BizCloak.ai Cybersecurity Services. Inner City Capital Connections has recognized B.I.G. as a Top100 company for five years in a row.  In 2023, Bush was awarded “The Monarch Man” for the Monarch Awards Foundation, Inc., Business category.  Previous Monarch Man Award recipients include President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Jessie White, Actor/Artist Common, Journalist Harry Porterfield, and Actor Harry Lennix.

 

With over 30 years of expertise in video and recording studio production, Bush has transformed his innate talents into the foundation of two innovative ventures under Bush Infotech Group: Chicago Media Services and CMS Studios, which have created two new career jobs at B.I.G.. Recognizing the need for compelling social media content in today’s fast-paced business landscape, he has masterfully leveraged technology, audio, and video tools to create impactful campaigns that drive tangible results. His deep knowledge of Internet marketing strategies quickly gained the trust and recognition of his clients, inspiring him to establish these B.I.G. brands focused on producing social media content, virtual events, galas, and fireside chats. Always at the forefront of technology, he integrates advanced tools like chatbots and AI to boost social media click-through engagement, seamlessly channeling audience interactions into his custom platform, PHAZE®, to automate nurturing campaigns with measurable outcomes. A visionary entrepreneur, Bush has built successful enterprises from the ground up, with a client portfolio that includes major events such as the Quad County Urban League Annual Equality Gala.

 

With Chicago Media Services established in 2023 and 2024, Bush led his team to produce a full-day summit called The Big Technology Summit to bring like-minded business owners and procurement professionals together to network, learn, and establish new ideas for scaling business. Always seeking to be more than an average IT firm, Bush secured the Malcolm X College Conference Center in Chicago, with a clear mission to open doors for B.I.G. and empower his peers.

 

The B.I.G. Technology Summit featured industry leaders and tech enthusiasts with cutting-edge insights, impactful networking opportunities, and powerful breakout sessions. Attendees had the opportunity to dive into the latest trends and to be in the room to take part in the conversation with those shaping the future of technology.  

 

The creation and launch of BizCLOAK.AI, a pioneering vertical under the B.I.G. brand umbrella, is the newest to Bush's business success. Positioned as a leading Managed Services Provider (MSP), BizCLOAK.AI is gaining recognition for delivering cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of modern businesses. Driven by an innovative blend of sophisticated AI tools and the expertise of skilled human technicians, B.I.G. offers a suite of comprehensive services. These include Proactive IT Management, Strategic IT Consulting, Data Backup and Disaster Recovery, Network Security and Monitoring, and Cloud Services Management. Together, these services empower businesses to safeguard their operations from the ever-changing landscape of digital threats, all while minimizing their investment of time and resources.

Bush pursues innovative uses of information systems to deliver data to clients, which is the core of B.I.G.’s business.  B.I.G. differentiates itself from its competition by providing turnkey solutions that stress the importance of data over paper.  Additionally, Bush thrives on being an information technologist and has a passion for the power of data.  Bush states, "The ability to analyze and take action on data is increasingly important to B.I.G.'s clients. Data, its visualization, and the use of AI to provide performance feedback and decision support, and its re-purposing for downstream use are the future." B.I.G. applies these principles to all its offerings, and Bush educates his clients and lectures on the principles at universities and to federal audiences such as the Federal Reserve Bank. Consequently, at B.I.G., Bush seeks to digitize organizations and utilize their collected data to develop generative artificial intelligence chatbot solutions for decision-making for customers and their stakeholders.

 

“After acquiring B.I.G., my goal was not only to maintain our very successful consultancy but also to expand our services outside the niche services and domestic client base that was already very familiar with our work. My goals included growing the firm globally. To grow globally, I participated in trade missions with the US Department of Commerce’s: International Trade Administration; Trade & Investment; and the Minority Business Development Administration Export Center, which provided valuable global procurement and business development expertise and resources that have guided me on the path to achieving my ambitious goals for global expansion. These trade missions include business opportunity meetings in Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Kingston, Jamaica; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Nairobi, Kenya; Accra, Ghana; and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. “These US Department of Trade Centers have been a valuable extension of the B.I.G. team,” explains Bush.  Bush’s software development activities now include a partnership in Rajasthan, India, where PHAZE marketing and sales are slated for Q3 2025.

 

Bush has become an international businessman who educates business stakeholders and governments alike on the benefits of governance and controls through the implementation of digitizing their organizations.  Bush’s efforts led to his personal investment in creating his platform known as PHAZE®.

 “When I initially decided to expand our work and initiatives outside of the United States, we created full-time jobs and two paid summer internships for IT talent in Chicago, and we have developed new Cloud platforms to reach our new opportunities abroad.  After being inspired by the needs in Africa and the lack of interested corporations in the United States, I established PHAZE.ai and developed PHAZE®.  PHAZE was released in 2020 as a cloud-based Project Management Information System for the Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC) and Facilities Management (FM) with a robust assets and materials management module to answer the digital-divide business needs of the African Diaspora.

PHAZE was conceived for the AEC and FM industries and then re-imagined and redeveloped for all industries and small businesses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. PHAZE was slated to empower governance for displaced teams at home during the pandemic which provided functionality beyond a Zoom meeting. PHAZE is now modular like an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform. PHAZE is the only Black Owned and Operated cloud solution of its type in the United States.  As a result of Bush’s creation of PHAZE, B.I.G. won the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) 2020 “Minority Innovative Technology Firm of the Year” award, and in 2022, Harvard Business School Publications published a case study titled “KFA, Inc.: Building the Future.”  “My staff has not only grown two-fold since I acquired B.I.G., but due to the opportunities afforded to me by exploring opportunities abroad, I am working to create jobs and new business opportunities throughout the African Diaspora for which I am very proud,” said Bush.

Bush’s desire for B.I.G. includes innovating new uses and delivery methods of information for industries around the globe.  He recognizes the need for conformance and governance in developing countries and will provide such, utilizing PHAZE. B.I.G. is now empowered with a new service offering, i.e., a cloud-based software subscription model, rather than the usual exchange of consultation hours for dollars.  Bush has positioned his company with the capability to develop cloud-enabled services with no geographic boundaries.  Bush provides, “Our business strategy will deliver PHAZE successfully in developing countries where major U.S. providers have no business presence.”

 

Now, as an international businessman, Bush has positioned himself to participate in global commerce and sit at the negotiating table with foreign government leaders, including Prime Ministers.  With this mindset, Bush has completed in-person meetings with the Minister of Housing in Nairobi, Kenya, Ministers at the mayor’s office in the Ethiopian Capital City, Addis Ababa, and has developed and delivered a $150M infrastructure development and implementation plan Program Management Office proposal for Kingston, Jamaica’s president and ministries.

Thanks to the tenacity and strong business performance of Bush and his company, B.I.G., they were nominated for, and ultimately received, the ChicagoMSDC and MBDA 2019 MBEIC Sharing Success Awards: Supplier of the Year, Revenue Class II, and the National Minority Supplier Development Council Supplier of the Year, Revenue Class II. After the honor, MBDA recommended Bush’s application to participate in the AT&T Business Growth Acceleration Program.  Bush was accepted and participated in the program.  As a mentor during the program, AT&T paired him with a prestigious business figure whose career includes COO of the San Francisco 49ers.  “The opportunity was priceless,” according to Bush.

Philanthropic organization service and contribution are at the core of Bush’s soul and are a notable characteristic of the new endeavors at B.I.G..  Bush takes it upon himself to seek opportunities to give back to his community as a black male, while encouraging all his employees to do the same.  By way of monetary donations, personal time, speaking engagements, mentoring programs, advisory committees, and God given talents, Bush has donated to many organizations over the last twenty-five years.  The organizations include Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Chicago Urban League, Quad County Urban League (Board Member), TSTM (Tomorrow’s Scientist Technologist and Managers), YouthBuild Commencement (Speaker and Funder), The Mayfair Performing Company, and the Chicago Minority Supplier Development Council as a Tech-Net partner.  At B.I.G., Bush sponsored a woman from Ukraine in an intern-to-hire program with I.C. Stars Technology Workforce.  She is now a thriving full-time W2 employee.  Additionally, Bush supported a young man from South Korea to assist him in obtaining his U.S. citizenship.  He is now a full-time B.I.G. employee. Additionally, Bush worked with the Career Development and Experiential Resource Center at his alma mater, Chicago State University, to give back to the community by hiring a student from CSU through his “Intern-to-Hire” program Upon graduation from CSU, Bush hired this young man for a full-time W2 position at B.I.G.  After completing training in Cybersecurity, the CSU graduate went on to earn a high-paying career job at a cybersecurity firm.

Bush made his efforts “official” by forming the Greg Bush, Jr. Foundation, Inc. (GBJF), a 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization. The GBJF was founded to provide mentoring and scholarship to African American high school students who endeavor to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, i.e., S.T.E.A.M. careers. The GBJF seeks to improve African American participation in S.T.E.A.M. higher education and to motivate our future Black leaders by providing structured learning activities to develop literacy and innovation with a focus on entrepreneurship.  Since 2020, Bush and the GBJF have awarded over $73,000 in scholarships. 

Through his innovative approaches and philanthropic efforts, Bush continues to redefine industry standards, demonstrating a deep commitment to empowering businesses with the tools and strategies they need to thrive.
